We are fortunate to have Denise Leong on board with us as our dance instructor for our programme. Her very intentional, thoughtful planning and execution in her classes were evident in the way she carried herself in the classes. She was able to integrate meaningful movements in her choreography that could potentially help our seniors to move better. Apart from that, with her very personable personality, the seniors were very open to her, and were able to feel at ease in trying the new movements. It’s been nothing but a pleasure having her around, guiding our seniors.

Both facilitators, Denise and Emily, are great at engaging the seniors. The program itself is well designed and songs played are familiar to the clients. When dancing, we also observe that seniors who usually sit down most times can stand and move for more than 15mins. It appears that when the seniors are having fun, they temporarily forget about their body pains and aches.

The Dance for MCI programme conducted by Denise and Emily is highly interactive and engaging. Our seniors loved it a lot and we never saw them looking forward to a programme so much, anticipating for Wednesday to arrive. The evaluation from the programme also showed improvement in the seniors MMSE scores which highlights the benefits of the programme in enhancing cognition.

The Teacher Emily is very sweet and kind. I am very inflexible but she never expects us to have perfection. She simply wanted us to have a good time. She is also very nice to listen to our music choices so that we can learn with songs we enjoy a lot. The part on Community Dance is very interesting. First time hearing about this term. The basic tips and tricks provided were useful in helping us to engage with other frail seniors. I recommend this class.
